Hearing 1 person’s perspective — that wouldn’t have worked for me. I needed to hear it from a god-level entity, as my beliefs are god-level, i.e. they concern the fundamental nature of reality. A new human perspective can influence them, but I doubt they could have had such a significant impact.
Same with when I was sat by the cupboard, packing my stuff, when I realised that I have a choice in the reality I want to live inside of. I’m sure that for someone else, they could have the realisation of “I don’t want to have these thoughts any more” — but that’s not enough for me. It has to be bigger. It had to be, “I don’t want to inhabit this reality any more”.
